Cubix Filmpalast | Berlin-Mitte
Rathausstrasse 1, 10178 Berlin
The Cubix Filmpalast was the first new building to be erected on Berlin's Alexanderplatz after German reunification.
In terms of urban construction, this cinema complex leans on the neighbouring Behrens buildings on the one hand, and the Rathauspassagen on the other. The unusual arrangement of twisted and overlapping cinema halls and foyers is the result of the unique cubature of the solitaire building, with an eaves height of 30 m and an area of 37 x 46 m. There are 9 screens on a total of 7 full and mezzanine floors, accessed by almost 100 flights of stairs. The Filmpalast Cubix has been operated since 2003 by the Cinestar group. There are two restaurants, leased to regional restaurateurs.
